the band took its title from either a street in the city of Nashville, Tennessee. Sawyer Light brown achieved national recognition once it won a 1984 Star Search television show singing contest. When winning, a band was signed by Curb Records.

Sawyer Light brown were known as a top vocal class action of 1996 per Academy of Country Music.

Within 2003, it signed by having Lyric Street Records.
